Search Skills and Protocols

All courses include classroom (Lecture) as well as practical field skills (Lab) so the learning is reinforced with practice.
Search Management
3-day (27 hours) course covers initial response protocols through to demobilization.
Designed so that each section is a building block to the next step in the process, by the end of the class, the students will have learned to set-up IC, prioritize scenarios, define search areas and techniques, work with specialized resources / media, determine probabilities, and the protocols for suspension of a search. |
Urban Search Management
1 day (8 hour) course helps in understanding and contrasting the urban / suburban / rural interface with the wilderness search processes.
From the initial hasty search through multiple operational periods, students learn to effectively manage missing person searches in an urban environment. Designed for people who have taken a standard Search Management course. |
SAR Skills and Protocols
1 day (8 hour) course covers the basic field skills needed to provide professional SAR response. Includes skills such as compass and map navigation, man-tracking, search techniques, and more.
2 day (16 hours) course adds in critical "first on scene" reflex actions and protocols. |
